Nanny update

Some of my blog readers have been asking how my nanny search been going. Unfortunately, the two ladies we interviewed decided that they preferred an office job over being a nanny. One of the ladies was Japanese and can speak English and Japanese fluently. We had her over for a trial day and I was totally in love with her. She read Japanese books to Akemi, sang to her, and totally took care of her. But I knew she was over educated and qualified for the job, so after a few weeks, she came back to us and said she preferred and office job in Little Tokyo. Oh wellz....

Anyways, Jonathan will be in Vegas for a week for a conference. I will be in Irvine for a two day conference during that week. Akemi will be staying over grandpa's house for the first time. I hope I'll be ok being away from her. I'm not looking forward to two full days of pumping. I'm glad that I called the hotel in advance and request a refrigerator in the room. At least I'm staying at a nice hotel, Fairmont --Newport Beach.

Okidoki, off to wash dishes! joy!

Reminiscing

The other night Akemi was rustling around in her crib, so I swooped her up and held her in my arms and rocked her to sleep. I know some books say that you shouldn't rock your baby to sleep but I figured it's only in a little time, where she'll be running around and won't be as little as she is now. So as I rocked her, she smiled in her sleep and it made me remember of all those nights where I was rocking her to sleep and she would make the silliest faces as she's sleeping.

It seems so long ago when she was a little tiny baby in my arms. Now, she's starting to scoot with her butt and would at time sleep with her butt up in the air and look like a little ostrich. She also is starting to master at grabbing both her feet and move around like a crab. It's pretty funny.

I'm cherishing every moment with her and hope she doesn't grow up too fast. By the end of the month, she'll already be six months!!!

Friends

It's always good to see old friends from college. Ai, Mike, and their cute little daughter, Hannah, flew out from Nor Cal to hang out with us for the weekend. Although I haven't seen Ai in like 3 years, it always feel like we were just on campus, hanging out. I can't believe it's been so long since we left. =D

It was great to catch up and hang out with another married couple with a baby. On Saturday, we went to Korean bbq and left Akemi with grandpa. It was interesting to watch from an outsider's perspective...as Mike hurried to eat his lunch, while balancing Hannah on his leg and at the same time, using his right arm to shield her from the hot plates. I kept wondering is that what we look like? Finally I offered to take Hannah, since I'm sure Ai and Mike rarely get to eat together at the same time.

The Korean bbq restaurant had a large fish tank. It was so cute watching Hannah stare at the little silver fishes as it swam across from one side of the tank to another. As I watched Hannah, I kept thinking to myself that I should take Akemi to the Long Beach aquarium one weekend.

On Sunday, Jonathan and I tried to play host and took the James family to Santa Monica. It's been like 4 years or more since we've been out there. The pier was packed with families but it was still fun to walk around and enjoy the scenery. Akemi had a chance to see the ocean for the first time. =)
Anyways, hanging out with old friends made me realize how much I miss my friends. I really wish my close friends live closer!!! =)

Kick start to summer

Our summer has been full of events. From Brent & Inez wedding to Justo& Christina's shower, we've been busy every weekend.

Before I knew it, it was Jonathan's Birthday! Akemi and I celebrated Jonathan's birthday at his 3rd favorite place to eat (Kabuki). I think his first favorite place is between 'Back Home at Lahaina's' in El Segundo or Noodle World. Anyways, he really wanted some sushi and we figured Kabuki is family friendly. Interestingly enough, I noticed that if you go at 6pm, it's all families with little kids. tee hee. We had to top off the evening with some mint chocolate ice cream cake. Akemi was already practicing to blow out the candles with daddy. =D
That weekend, we had a bbq with a few friends. We had a chance to chill at the pool with Akemi.
We enjoyed hanging out at the pool so much that we went back to his dad's house the next day! Can you tell Akemi was wiped out?
