On meds

Ok, I finally gave in and asked the doctor for some medication. She gave me a prescription for antibiotic and told me to buy Mucinex. Of course, I haven't felt the affects of Mucinex yet as my nose is still plugged up and I can't breathe. I read the info on the antibiotics and was a bit perturb to read that this medication does not help for viral infection (e.g. common cold). I was like ...err.. why am I taking this then?

I saw the doc yesterday and she 'checked' me to see if I'm dilated. I'm 2-3cm dilated!! I personally think when she 'checked' me, she started the labor process somehow cause it hurted like hell as she was probing around. I was like why didn't she say 'this might be uncomfortable'. No warning whatsoever! Oh wellz... the baby is still moving around like there is a disco party in my belly, but it hasn't bothered me so much cause I can't breathe!!

I should of invented a nose vaccuum. 'sigh'

Still up at 10:06pm

Ok, so I'm still up. I checked all of my work email to make sure nothing crazy happened while I was gone. I'm too chicken to check my voicemail so that'll wait till I get in the morning.

I slept for like 16 hours again today. I don't think my humidifier is working cause my nose is still plugged up. I got desperate in clearing my stuffy nose that I tried a home remedy today. I was watching an old Oprah re-run and Dr. Oz was on. So I add 1/4 teaspoon in 8 oz of water and use a little spoon to put the salt water in my nose. At first I was really scared, thinking that it would feel like water up my nose... you know that feeling when you're a kid in the swimming pool and water goes up your nose. It hurts! But to my surprise, it didn't feel that way.

Unfortunately my nose is too plugged up that I don't think it works. I need to look it up again online to see if I'm doing it right. I'm still not taking any medication....

Jonathan's parents stopped by this morning with some porridge and homemade chicken soup. That totally made my belly all warm and fuzzy and put me to sleep till 5pm today.

Ok, I'm heading off to shower to clear my sinus.

Day 2- still in my pjs

Day 2 and I'm still in my pjs. I thought I was getting better last night but found myself waking up to my own puke. Really odd since I didn't know that I was throwing up. I guess laying flat wasn't good.... probably the acid reflex from the baby pushing on my stomach. So I spent majority of the night awake and trying different sleeping position.

It's really amazing when you feel miserable, work is the last thing on my mind. Usually I'm worried about what tasks I didn't complete or what's due...but when your body is exhausted, it really shuts down. Yes, I know it's the obvious...but you don't know me. I really try to push through the illness thinking that it's a mental thing. I guess my body is teaching me a lesson that I need to take it easy since this is my 3rd cold during my pregnancy and probably the worse one.

I'm seeing the doctor this Friday for my weekly checkup so hopefully she could provide some remedy. Everytime I try to call the doctor today, I find myself sleeping on the coach and missing the office hours completely.

Hopefully tomorrow will be better. I'm looking forward to the weekend.

Still in my Pjs at 6:30pm

So it's 6:30 pm and I'm still in my PJs. The lack of sleep finally caught up with me and I caught a really bad cold. This is my 3rd cold during my pregnancy and it's been tough not taking any medicine even though it's ok. I slept for 16 hours to only wake up weary eyed around 1pm to my dog wimpering to be let out.

Usually I wouldn't call in sick and tough it out at work. I have so many emails to read and things to do...but slowly I'm realizing that it's always going to be that way..and being so close to my due date, it would be aweful to go into labor with a cold. I can't imagine how I would breathe and push all at the same time.

I'm slowly realizing how tough it is to be a woman. Especially a pregnant woman. This thought triggered even more today, as my husband was leaving to the airport this morning and made a comment that I should take the 2 weeks of work off before my due date so I can be home to have dinner ready for him when he's back at work. Now, don't get me wrong, Jonathan is a great husband and he does his share of household duties....but I don't think he realize the impact that comment made on me today...especially the timing of it.

He could of said, so that you could relax and transition slowly to being a mom since bringing the baby home would be hectic.... but all I heard was so I can have dinner ready for him.

It baffles me that men sometimes don't realize the 'front' that us pregnant women put in front of the world. Do they realize how hard it is to be pregnant but 'pretend' to some extent that we're really ok?

I wake up at least 3-4 times a night, due to either needing to go to the bathroom, changing position, or realizing how dehyrdated I am. Do I ever wake my husband up to get me water? Only once. And through watching my belly grow into the size of the basketball, I still get up every morning, drive to work, and put in my 9 hours a day. So have life changes since I've been pregnant? No, but perhaps I should of let it.... let the dish pile high, the laundry unwashed, the trash stinking up the kitchen.... and not say a thing...

'sigh', perhaps its the lack of sleep or the 'I think I can do it all' attitude that's making me tired...
I just need some help... that is voluntary, unasked, untold, and without a 'huff' along with it. =)

Nature is cruel

so...I've been sleeping only around 3-4 hours a night. It's nature's cruel way to prepare me for the arrival of our baby girl. Every night around 3am, my belly starts rumbling around and no matter how I position myself, I can't get back to sleep. It feels as though my baby girl is telling me she wants to be out. I really think she's going to come early that my expected due date of Feb 1st, but we'll see.

Now I understand why pregnant working mom takes 2 weeks before their due date. It's not to 'nest' (e.g. prepare for the arrival of the baby), but it's because you literally can't function at work with only 3 hours of sleep. I'm starting to go into work by 7:30 and leaving ontime at 4:30...so I can come home and nap.

The plus side of not sleeping is that I've been reading more books...so I guess I'm optimizing the night. But trust me, every night, I'm sooo tempted to wake Jonathan up so he can enjoy the misery that I'm in. But as a good wife, I just gaze over to his side of the bed...green with envy as he's snoring away in his dream. Even my DOG is SNORING. 'sigh'

well hopefully tonight, I'll get some rest. oyasumi

Rose Bowl

This past Friday, Willis called and sold us his Rose Bowl tickets~! I was soo excited to have an opportunity to go! Jonathan and I went shopping for a bright orange sweater. Luckily we were able to find some at the mall.
Tricia Inamine came down to also join in the fun. We woke up around 8am today and headed off to meet up with Monica for the tailgate. Jeff (Monica's bf) grilled up some real good Hawaiian food (kalbi, teriyaki chicken, hawaiian bread, chinese chicken salad)....I'm drooling thinking about it.

So the day started off well, till we got to the game. USC just obliterated us. Illini played so bad..I at least wished it was a decent game. But nevertheless, it was good to see a large fan base and a sea of Orange on one side of the colliseum. The score was 49-17. We got home around 7pm and I knocked out.

Jonathan and I have been trying our best to go out as much as we can before the baby arrives. New Year's eve we spent hanging out with Phuong, Chi, Chi's cousin Jon, and his wife Kai at NBC for some dim sum. Then went to Jen's to bring in the New Year. Quite a busy few days!!!
